Sometimes life gets real.

I interrupt any scheduled blog post to get serious for a moment.

I’ve wrote an intro to this blog post at least six times I kept deleting it, so I decided to keep this rough and just go with it.

Sometimes things happen in my real life and I decide not to blog because I don’t like to write negative things on here. I want this space to be about happy parties, fashion finds, shopping ideas and of course wine, beer and cocktails.

Sometimes when bad things happen, I take a few days off of blogging. I don’t want people to think “How is she all happy when (fill in the blank bad thing) is happening.” I typically just wait until the dust settles and then post a little Etsy Find or Thirsty Thursday.

Recently a really unthinkable, tragic, sad thing happened to someone really important in my life. I still haven’t been able to wrap my head around it, but I need to address it. I need to address it before I can post on here again. Because it just doesn’t feel right to talk about what pair of shoes I’m drooling over right now or my six-month search for a new work bag when a good friend is suffering. That stuff just doesn’t matter.

My best friend lost her husband of less than 2 years.

I don’t feel the need to publicly explain the story, but I do want to say that it was extremely sudden and she wasn’t in the country when it happened. She did have a group of friends with her and I’m very thankful that good people were with her.

So before we go back to talking about my silly obsession with glitter and sequins, I want to say this. That obsession is silly. Everything I write on here is silly. None of this really matters. What really matters is spending time with your family and friends and not sweating the small stuff. They always say that life is short and for some it’s very short.

There may be some dark posts thrown in here (because that’s real life and all), but I will to be back to regularly scheduled posting soon.

Easter in a Jar

Saturday, April 19, 2014

With less than 24 hours until the Easter Bunny arrives, I saw a super cute idea at Whole Foods that was just too cute not to share.

Inside this large Mason jar are different Easter treats like chocolates, eggs, gummies and eco-friendly faux grass on the bottom!

This is a great alternative to the traditional basket or bag as the jar can be reused!

Happy Easter & Happy (almost) Earth Day!

Drink Up Gladiators

Thursday, April 17, 2014

I’m OBSESSED with the show Scandal! I started watching it last year when my friend pneumonia was visiting…for a few months. During this time, I also went back and watched the show from the start on Nexflix. I LOVE Olivia Pope!

I love Olivia for a number of reasons and one of them includes the fact that she drinks a glass of red wine every episode (usually with popcorn – another one of my favs). See – being in the public relations field drives you to drink!

There is a lot of buzz on the internets about what wine Olivia drinks and from what glass she drinks it from.

Here’s what I uncovered.

Olivia drinks from the Crate & Barrel 23oz Camille glass which retails for $14.95 – but it’s currently on sale for $11.96.

Kerry Washington herself doesn’t drink wine (GASP!) and many of the bottles on the show appear to be faux. The bottles just say “California Oak.” Bon Appetit did some extensive research and determined that Olivia drinks a full-bodied red wine like a Shiraz. I also love that the internets have created the term “wine cardigans” for the clothes that Olivia changes into when she’s drinking wine.
