Sometime before my daughter turned three, inspiration struck. And by “inspiration,” I mean a full-blown party concept that refused to leave my brain.
Her name, Lennon, was of course, lovingly inspired by a certain musician / band. She’s also was a big fan of the Netflix show Beat Bugs, which means she already knows most of the Beatles’ greatest hits. So I knew this was coming eventually: a Beatles-themed birthday party.
And if you’re going to do it…you might as well do it at four.
Introducing: Strawberry Fields FOUR-ever. 🍓
I did a deep dive into the internet (as one does) and couldn’t find anyone who had used this exact theme. Which means either I’m a creative genius or just extremely committed to a pun. Probably both. So naturally, I had to document it for future party planners of the world.
I’m usually not a fan of double themes, but somehow strawberries + Beatles worked together beautifully instead of fighting for attention. Think sweet, playful, and just the right amount of quirky.
The Decor
I kept most of the décor strawberry-forward. For the “field,” I made about 30 strawberries out of construction paper I already had on hand. I found a template online, poured myself a drink, and spent a rainy afternoon cutting and assembling. Once they were done, I hot glued them to sticks. Easy, inexpensive, and honestly adorable.
This was also the year I skipped helium balloons—and THANK GOODNESS. Turns out the helium shortage is very real. Multiple Party City trips later, I gave up and used a hand pump the day before the party. Then I added black dots and little green construction paper stems to turn them into strawberries. I grouped them into mini “bushels” for the picnic shelter pillars, and I’m still proud of this solution.

The Backup Plan (aka: Rain Happens)
Because the weather was doing weather things, I put together a “Join the Band” craft station. Kids could color their own guitar, grab a faux tattoo, pick out a pair of John Lennon glasses, and “walk Abbey Road.”
I cut the guitars from poster board and added string so they could wear them. I did have a vision of photographing each child and making backstage passes… but my husband gently reminded me that I am only one person. Fair.
Tables & Games
Knowing wind and rain were likely guests of honor, I kept the table décor simple with printed Beatles song quotes. Easy, cute, and low-risk for flying centerpieces.
I also created a “Penny Lane” game, which was adorable in theory and tragically underused in practice (again: rain). Kids were supposed to toss pennies onto strawberries printed on a big sheet. I even had a custom strawberry graphic bundle made and printed it at Sam’s Club. Zero photos, but still a fun idea if your forecast is more cooperative than mine was.
The Menu (My Favorite Part)
If you love a good pun, this party was your moment.
The drink menu included:
Help, I Need Some Water
I Feel Wine
Lovely Margaritas
Helter Seltzers
Here, Beer and Everywhere (including an 8 Days a Week beer!)
Hey, Juice (because: children)
The shelter was right next to a playground, which is where the kids spent most of their time anyway. We also had a strawberry piñata, per the very specific request of the birthday girl. 🍓
The Sweetest Favors
And finally, the favors. My mom completely outdid herself.
Kids went home with strawberry-themed goodie baskets, and moms received strawberry candles. Because honestly, surviving a kid’s birthday party deserves a little something extra.
All in all, it was sweet, punny, and perfectly Lennon. And yes—I would absolutely do a Beatles party again. But I might need another milestone birthday to justify the effort. 🥂🍓
