So a little insight on the behind the scenes world of Shot of Brandi*. I typically start blog posts in advance. So of the ones that are season, I don’t have finish, so I save them until the next year or scrap them.

I’m really sad because I had some really long post wrote a few months ago about my point of view on glitter shoes and it just disappeared! I can’t find it anywhere.

Rather than rewrite all of that goodness, let me just make this brief.

Glittered shoes have been around for a few years now, but if you read any of the September fashion issues you will notice that the PR department of Miu Miu needs a raise. The brand’s line of glittered shoes were in practically EVERY issue – even twice in some. Women all over are coveting these $800 – $900 shoes.

I know 99% of my readers would love to have these shoes, but realistically, you can take a trip to Punta Cana for that price tag.

So my opinion – glitter shoes are fun, cute, jaw dropping - they are just awesome. BUT for many of us, they just aren’t practical. I’d bet you would wear them 1-2 times a month. So if you do the math, that’s about $37.50 per wear.

The high end version of this trend should be a pass. The reason is – a lot of mass retailers are making versions of the glitter shoe at a WAY fraction of the price. For instance, that $37.50 per wear of the Miu Miu shoe? Well for $34.50, you can get a pair of silver glitter shoes from Old Navy (top right). The store ALWAYS has deals, so let’s pretend that you get $10 off and wear these 4 times – that boils down to $6 per wear.

Some other options (all under $100)

Steve Madden (knocking off the Miu Miu’s)

Target (pretty much a Kate Spade design knock off with glitter)

And to channel your inner teenager, here’s a pair of sneakers from American Eagle!

(P.S. – since I started writing this post, some of the Miu Miu shoes have gone on sale here and here)
